Our Program

Kindergarten – 5th Grade

The homeroom teachers work as teams and share strengths across classrooms, and teacher aids enable us to provide personalized differentiation solutions so that the needs of all ability levels, ranging from learning disabilities to gifted and talented, are met within the classrooms so students are appropriately challenged while being allowed to mature in a diverse classroom environment.

We also provide Physical Education, Art, Music, Spanish and Technology education to all students. A major part of our curriculum involves social development and community involvement, and we provide our students with numerous opportunities throughout the year to make a difference in each other’s lives, as well as in our local community.

Middle School

Our Middle School staff has built a program that delivers strategic leadership focused on meeting both the academic and emotional needs of our students during this transitional period of development in every child’s life. Through our small class sizes, close collaboration and caring, our teachers stay in tune with and respond to the needs of our Middle School students. Our alumni have consistently reported to us that they entered high school feeling confident and well prepared.

Like our elementary school, our Middle School constantly strives to provide our students with opportunities to expand perspectives, exercise talents and develop purposeful goal development and problem-solving skills. All Middle School students study Art, Music, Technology, Physical Education and Spanish in addition to their core academic subjects and quarterly electives. Every school year begins with a 3-day team-building retreat where all three Middle School grades come together to achieve common ground. In the spring, each grade takes its own week-long trip to places like Snow Mountain Ranch, Keystone Science Camp and Sea Camp in San Diego, California. PTO-sponsored fundraisers help to pay for these trips.

Core Knowledge Curriculum- A Coherent, Cumulative, and Content-Specific Curriculum

Core Knowledge

The idea behind the Core Knowledge Sequence is simple and powerful: knowledge builds on knowledge.

For the sake of academic excellence, greater fairness, and higher literacy, Core Knowledge provides a course of study that is coherent, cumulative, and content-specific to help children establish strong foundations of knowledge, grade by grade.

If all our children are to be fully educated and participate equally in civic life, then we must provide each of them with the shared body of knowledge that makes literacy and communication possible. This concept takes shape in the Sequence—a pioneering attempt to outline the specific core of shared knowledge that all children should learn in American schools.

RMAE’s Kindness Movement

RAKRMAE, with the granted approval from Jefferson County School District, has partnered with the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation (RAK). RAK and RMAE are conducting evidence-based research on the implementation and outcomes of teaching kindness. RMAE incorporates supplemental instructional materials and training for teaching and learning kindness skills as social-emotional and positive behavior supports.

RMAE’s faculty and administration is supportive of this ongoing research and we engage with the independent research firm, Spark Policy, in a process of interviews, observations, focus groups and the ongoing collection of data.

At Rocky Mountain Academy of Evergreen, our goal is to begin a science program at the Kindergarten level that carries through to the end of eighth grade which sparks an interest in all students for science. We accomplish this through a rigorous Core Knowledge science curriculum, hands-on learning methods of instruction, thinking maps to teach critical thinking skills, various science-related fields trips both inside and outside of the state, and professional development for elementary and middle school teachers in all areas of STEM. At RMAE we are doing our part to capture the natural, inquisitive instincts that children possess at an early age and cultivate these skills into talents they can use throughout their lifetime.
