Dear RMAE families,
A shout out to everyone who attended and supported RMAE’s Charter Renewal.  I am pleased to announce the Renewal passed without any concerns!

Thank you to all who have supported the Capital Campaign.  To date, we have received over $100,000 from current families, alumni, staff, and community partners.  This allows us to fulfill several items on the wish list: the gym floor, basketball hoops, volleyball equipment and wall pads.  Of course, our wish list is long: bleachers, theater equipment, PE equipment, music room equipment, STEM Lab equipment, furniture and more.  Any amount that you can contribute or network with businesses would be greatly appreciated and will enter you into the drawing for the Reserved Parking Space through the end of the school year.

Now an update on The Den progress.  The exterior stonework is complete and stucco color is being applied with the goal of it being done mid-week.  The scaffolding will then be removed, and the donated HVAC system installed.  Inside all the sheetrock is complete and the walls will be fully painted by the end of the week.  Everything is on schedule, except for Excel.  They still need to complete the electric and gas hookup.  Unfortunately, they haven’t given us a timeline and that is holding up the next phase.   We still have high hopes The Den will be complete before we leave for summer break.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson

Kindergarten Process Art- students spent time looking at Jackson Pollock's paintings and talking about how sometimes the action of making the artwork is more important than the final product. We then used cups of paint and yarn to create these Pollock style abstract paintings.
Once again, the PTO, Sonya Sava and Kristin Hoppes spoiled the staff  with chocolate covered strawberries, fresh fruit, cookies and coffee!

Family Summary of February Board Meeting
Congratulations to the RMAE community on the renewal of our charter for five years!  The Board appreciates all of the families who offered eloquent public comment about our wonderful school, and those who showed their support in numbers.
Our February regular meeting was packed with necessary business.  Of note for families is that the Policy Committee is hard at work on a Family Handbook that both endures across school years and clears up ambiguity about various policies.  Check back for more information around the end of the school year.
As always The Den is a huge focus area.  The Board approved a contract to install the gym floor and sports components, which was only made possible by the generous donors to the Capital Campaign so far.  There is lots more to be accomplished in this area.  Please visit rmae.org/the_den to identify ways you can help!
