February 8th, 2021
Dear RMAE families,
I can’t believe it’s February.  For a year that is different on so many levels, it is flying by!  This means it is already parent teacher conference time.  We appreciate all the families who have planned to meet with their child’s teacher.  For everyone’s safety, the meetings will be remote on zoom.  The teacher links are on the conference sign up form or you may contact the teacher directly for the link.
Thanks to everyone for your help in keeping drop off and pick up going smoothly.  It may not seem like a big deal but, driving all the way to the end of the circle makes a huge difference.  This allows more families in the circle to safely drop off their child(ren) and reduces the line length.  The families behind you appreciate your effort as well.
Stay safe and have fun on our mid-winter break - no school for students Feb 12-16.
Your Proud Principal,

Kindergarten and 1st Grade Celebrate the 100th Day of School!
6th Grade girls made a "spread the love" and kindness around our school using sticky notes where kids can write when they feel loved and appreciated and post them on the lockers.
Mrs. Mortiz and Mrs. Pumphrey co-taught a unit combining music and art. Nineteenth century composer, Modest Mussorgsky based his musical composition, Pictures at an Exhibition, on ten pieces of art created by his friend, Victor Hartmann. The music walks the listener through a memorial exhibition of Hartmann’s work after the artist had died. Each song is a reaction to one of Hartmann’s artworks. Mussorgsky used tempo, chords, tone, resonance, and the like to create a musical description of the art.  Sadly, most of Hartmann’s art has been lost. For this project, students listened to all 10 pieces of Pictures at an Exhibition while they made sketches for each of the songs. They then selected one piece of music and illustrated their own interpretation of what Hartmann’s artwork may have looked like. Each student self selected the type of art and medium used. There were pencil drawings, acrylic and watercolor paintings, sculptures, a fabric collage, and other wonderful creations.
