What does the sound of music look like? 7th graders explored this in art. Kandinsky had synesthesia, he could hear music and see colors and see colors and hear sounds. Many of his paintings depict songs. Students closed their eyes and listened to a song and tried to imagine what it might look like to them. Then they painted while listening to the song on repeat. The photos are of the paintings they made in reaction to four different songs of different genres.

Would you like to help our great school by serving on the Board of Directors? The Board is the policy setting and governing entity of RMAE, and meets at least monthly to discuss budgeting, achieving academic standards, strategic planning, and campus improvements. The Board will have two vacant parent representative seats to be filled for three-year terms beginning this summer. While all parents are welcome to submit their names for candidacy, the Board is particularly interested in candidates with previous involvement in RMAE committees, financial or accounting backgrounds, as well as parents of middle school students.
If you have interest, please submit a brief letter of intent by this Thursday, March 31 describing your background and outlining what you believe you can offer the school through Board service. The letter may be sent to Jamie Richards at jrichards@rmae.org. Once the letters are compiled and reviewed, we will hold a public meeting the evening of April 19th to interview and allow questions to be posed to the candidates. Details regarding the election date and process will appear in later Grizzly Growls.

March Core Virtue: Mercy
Mercy is showing kindness to those who have not been kind to us.
Mercy is showing compassion to the enemy, the wrongdoer, or those over whom one has power.
