March 7th, 2022
Dear RMAE families,
With March’s arrival, we have many events coming up beginning next week.  Student Council is sponsoring a spirit week and K-5 Carnival.  The students have put a lot of thought and time into both events, please read the descriptions below from their Director of Communications, Eliza Graybill.  In addition, PTO is sponsoring a book swap.  All students are encouraged to donate between 1 and 5 books they have read in exchange for selecting ones they haven’t. The hope is all students go home with at least one new book they can dive into during Spring Break.  Students may bring books in good condition and at their level this week.  Each student will receive a ticket (up to 5) for each book in good condition donated.  They will exchange the ticket for a new to them book next Thursday or Friday during the Book Swap. We hope this becomes a new annual tradition for RMAE.  Many thanks for our amazing parent volunteers who are making this event possible.
Your Proud Principal,
Dr. Ann Hudson

Fifth Graders explored codes the Underground Railroad used to communicate messages with passengers through quilts.  They created a coded message with these patterns.
The second graders had fun saving Fred, the gummy worm, by getting his life preserver (gummy life saver) around his body using only paper clips to touch him.  They practiced perseverance and teamwork during this fun STEM challenge.
4th and 5th graders participated in a Job Fair as part of their preparation for Young Ameritowne.  Students completed a skills assessment, filled out a job application, and wrote a cover letter in preparation for their mock interview.
Kindergarten celebrated Read Across America Day by dressing as Dr. Seuss characters and doing several Dr.Seuss themed activities. We wrote about the places we will go and did a guided draw of the cat in the hat!
Lost and Found will be purged on Friday March 11th.
