Dear RMAE families,
I can’t believe we have only 9 days left before summer. Even with this year’s uniqueness, we’ve gotten through it stronger than ever. This is a result of our amazing families and dedicated staff. I’ve received many questions about what next year will look like. At this time, schools have not been given any definitive direction. However, I optimistically hold out hope things will return to normal or at least very close to it.
Speaking of planning, we have 9 candidates for the three open Board of Director parent positions. Each of these positions are three-year terms. Please take a moment to read their letter of interests, linked in this newsletter. In addition, you are invited to a virtual meet and greet on Wednesday at 7pm for an opportunity to get to know them and their views better. The link is also included in this newsletter. Voting will commence on Thursday at 8am and close on Friday at 11:45pm.

End of the year medication pick-up
District policy requires a parent/guardian pick up any unused or discontinued medication at the end of each school year. This includes all prescription and over-the counter medications including cough drops, cough syrup, Tylenol, EpiPen, inhaler, and any other injectable medications. If you, as the parent, are not able to come to the school and pick-up the medication, please call your health aide to set up a special arrangement. The last day of school is May 27, 2021.  All medication that is left in the school health room will be disposed of after the last day of school according to Jeffco policy.

Board of Directors (BoD) Updates and Information

Family Summary of May Board Meeting

The Board of Directors held its monthly regular meeting last Thursday in the RMAE Cafeteria.  May is always a busy time, and this year is no exception.  The group approved next school year’s budget as well as the purchase of exciting new middle school science materials.  We advanced several important policies through the approval process and conducted our annual self-evaluation to assess how well we serve our community.  The highlight of the Principal’s report continues to be facility updates, but in addition this month we heard about the wonderful outdoor events that the staff has been able to coordinate, such as the 8th Grade Continuum and Field Day.  We are so grateful for their immense efforts to make these events happen without the usual army of volunteers.
In the next week, our community will have the opportunity to elect three new Parent Representatives to the Board of Directors.  We are thrilled to have received letters of interest from nine candidates, and to have heard directly from one of them at Thursday’s meeting.  As described above, please do your part to read up on their backgrounds, attend the meet-and-greet, and most importantly VOTE!
