Campus and Classroom Happenings
You can't tell because of the masks but the second graders were full of smiles and giggles as they worked with their partner to save Fred (a gummy worm) who had fallen out of his boat and needed his life preserver (a gummy lifesaver).  The challenge was to put his life preserver on without touching him with their hands- They could only use a paperclip to put it back on.
7th Grade ended the Math unit on probability by playing carnival games and testing the probability outcomes and predictions.
4th Grade students use the engineering design process to create Rube Goldberg Machines, a complex contraption designed to achieve a simple task, in Tech Class.
4th Grade learn self portrait techniques in Art and are displayed in the hallway of Building 1.
Kindergarten celebrated the end of their Math Money Unit with the Annual Kindergarten Market.

Board of Directors (BoD) Updates and Information
Family Summary of March 18, 2021 Board of Directors Meeting
The big highlight of the March 18 Board meeting was definitely RMAE’s facilities.  Dr. Hudson was able to share a draft campus plan that will both make room for our new multi-purpose building and provide our community with exciting upgrades, such as to our playground, parking, and traffic flow.  The Facilities Committee has been hard at work making this plan a reality, and the Capital Campaign Committee already has great momentum for fundraising for our planned finishes that will bring our building to life.  Stay tuned for ways you can get involved.
The Principal’s report also highlighted plans for the CMAS testing period, positive enrollment updates, efforts to enhance our unique school culture, and the continued facilities theme, namely the plans to fully renovate all of the school’s bathrooms this summer.  We received great reports from our very active committees.  Similarly the Board would like to send our kudos to the RMAE PTO for continuing to make progress for our school so creatively in these challenging times.
Finally we are pleased to announce that next month’s Regular Meeting, scheduled for April 8, will be in-person.  As always in the past, we welcome your attendance and would ask you to sign in if you wish to provide public comment.  What’s new is that we will meet in the cafeteria rather than the music room, so that all chairs can be spaced more effectively…that, and of course, the masks.
We wish everyone a relaxing and safe spring break!

Safety Committee Reminders

Keep up the great work RMAE! Remember, 3’ social distancing is practiced (per CDC guidelines) to the fullest level possible throughout the campus. Face coverings are required in any public area for those who are 10 years and older (consideration for exceptions, for the health and wellness of certain students/staff). All students are required to bring an extra face covering in a sealed bag to be kept at the school in case they need a replacement covering.

RMAE’s Safety Measure/ Protocol Reminders are intended to support in-person learning and continued safety of the RMAE Community. They are in no way an indication that RMAE’s status has changed. Thank you for your support of RMAE.
