October 12th, 2020

What is happening around Campus?

It is Parent-Teacher Conference Week.

Conferences are virtual this year. Sign up for a time slot with your student(s) teacher, for questions and clarifications please contact your student(s) individual teacher.  Additionally, the Specials Department will be available for conferencing over Zoom between October 12th and October 15th. Please email the Specials teacher you would like to speak with to arrange a 10 minute block to speak about your student(s).

Dear RMAE families,

We are fortunate that our school community attracts high quality engaging staff.  Although Ms. Simonds has decided to pursue a different career path, we will not be skipping a beat.  It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce our elementary art teacher, Ms. Jessica Hughes.  Ms. Hughes has experience with elementary ages and is thrilled to teach the Core Knowledge curriculum.  She fits right in and has a kind and caring demeanor.  Ms. Hughes has worked with Ms. Simonds creating a seamless transition for our students.  Welcome Ms. Hughes!

First Graders working together at recess to build a fort on the playground.

Third Graders testing wind direction with their handmade weathervanes.

Fourth Graders learning about electricity and space exploration. The annual 4th grade trip to the Air Force Academy for World Space Week turned remote this year. Fourth grade participated in “Physics is Phun” and “Rocket Chemistry” with Air force professors. They also got to meet Mr. Duane “Digger” Carey to hear about his journey into space with “Audience with an Astronaut.” I think we have some future astronauts among us!

Sixth Graders showing off their final roller coaster projects.

Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you to the Robert, Raley, Robbin and Graybill families for volunteering to help with projects on campus! RMAE is looking for assistance with the maintenance of the Fire Road at the back of the property and our parking lot. The Fire Road job entails light machinery such as a Skid Steer to level and grade the road. The Parking Lot job would be a multifamily/2-4 person task consisting of straightening parking blocks, removing broken parking blocks and filling in large pot holes in the parking lot and on the road. If either of these tasks are something that you are available to help with please contact our facilities manager, Todd Wellman for further planning.

Parent Teacher Organization News and Information

These events are planned and sponsored by the Parent Teacher Organization. Although we are currently unable to hold these amazing events, we are hopeful that one day we will resume these activities. In order to move forward with event planning the PTO needs a President! We are still searching for a volunteer or two to fill the vacant PTO President position! This unique year has condensed the number of events and fundraisers the PTO usually puts on for the school community, but this has also provided the perfect opportunity for someone to transition into the role at a manageable pace.  Please contact the PTO at if interested in this exciting opportunity.
