Math:  We’ve started Ch 3 which focuses on addition strategies.  I’m sending home some addition flashcards to work with your student at home.  Fact fluency supports overall math comprehension.

Literacy:  Our focus this week is short-U and Final Blends

Grammer: We are continuing work on proper sentence structure and mechanics.

Writing:  We’re tying writing to our Core Virtue word- Respect- and will be working on creating a collaborative e-book illustrating what respect means to us.  Our focus on writing is having the students work towards complete sentences with interesting details.

Science/Social Studies: We’re going to start our unit on early civilizations-starting with Mesopotamia!

Core Virtue- Respect and Responsibility

Week of 8/26 - 8/30

Math: This week we are fully immersed into our math curriculum called Go Math. We are starting off with a review of addition. What I love about this curriculum is the hands on aspect as you will see in the home’fun’ in the red folders.

Literacy: Our Reading Street curriculum is underway this week along with our diagnostic MAP and Dibels. Thanks to this data we are able to accurately place students in their first groups of the year. Students will be moving around in their reading groups as they progress. Contact your student’s teacher with any questions.

Grammer: We have started learning about sentence structure. That includes capitals and ending punctuation.

Writing: We did some sentence writing.
