8th Grade - Music
Every middle school child attends a general music class for one 2 hour block a week.  Our framework for that class is the grade specific core curriculum.  I work to present that information to kids with interactive lessons and experiences. 

We listen to music from the great composers of the past and connect what we know and hear with historical events, or current trends. 

We also have a bunch of fun in class.  We spend a good deal of class time learning musical elements in the truest sense of experiential learning.  We have access to and play orff instruments, guitars, ukuleles, individual keyboards, numerous percussion instruments, and boomwhackers.  Practicing a piece and creating music together on any instrument is powerful instantaneous feedback and a great team building experience.
