Classroom News

Kindergarten ended their money unit with a Market Day!  Students have collected money for the past two weeks and were able to spend it on donated items for different prices. We partnered with our 8th-grade buddies who helped us run the market.

Kindergarten - To Celebrate Dr. Seuss, kindergarten partnered with 2nd and 4th grade to read and do crafts together.  Second grade read to us, Put Me In The Zoo, and then did a collaborative craft about the story.  Later in the afternoon, 4th grade visited to read each kindergartner their favorite Dr. Seuss book!

4th Grade - Talent Friday and Fraction Discovery

KG - 5th Grade - Today the students heard a local author, Theresa Howell, speak to all of elementary about the process of writing and publishing books.  She also rallied the children to get them excited about the upcoming Young Writers' Conference in April.  To register, please see the Young Writers message in RMAE Happenings below.

7th Grade Language Arts - Seventh grade is well into our unit about the Holocaust.  Today, we had a world cafe around different primary and secondary sources about the Kristallnacht Pogrom.  Students rotated around the room, looking at pictures, letters, official documents, and memos about this event.  While at a station, one student read the source while others wrote questions, responded to questions, summarized, and wrote their thoughts.  We will compare and contrast different sources to put together a comprehensive narrative about what happened during this tragic event.  All while listening to some smooth jazz.  Just like historians!

Running Elective - Navigating the snowy trails!

Middle School Art - Youth Art Month Exhibit - Jaden Best and another middle school student have art on exhibit at the state capitol building in the rotunda through March 7. There will be a reception on Thursday, March 7th from 4-5 pm.  Congratulations!
